pg-8x is a software instrument inspired by the classic JX-8P synthesizer, featuring a user interface modeled after the original pg-800 external editor. It offers deep compatibility with the JX-8P hardware by supporting its SysEx patch files, allowing seamless integration of existing sounds. With polyphony ranging from 6 to 12 voices, pg-8x faithfully reproduces the character of the original synth while enhancing workflow within a modern digital environment.

This VST instrument includes two digitally controlled oscillators capable of producing saw, square, pulse, and noise waveforms, complemented by hard sync and ring modulation effects. Sound shaping is supported through two exponential envelope generators and a 24 dB resonant low-pass filter, along with a three-stage high-pass filter. A built-in stereo chorus effect adds depth and richness, making the sound lush and expressive.

Built with native C++ code for optimized performance, pg-8x features advanced oversampling on both oscillators and filters, ensuring clean and precise sound quality. The voice allocation system offers multiple modes including polyphonic, unison, and monophonic options, catering to a range of playing styles. MIDI Learn functionality allows easy mapping of MIDI controllers, while automatic sample rate adjustment guarantees smooth operation across different setups.
